Science suggests Pizza is better than cash rewards for productivity
Is this the best research ever? Coming from the stable of Dan Ariely , author of Predictably Irrational , this research comes out with an interesting result just like many others done by him.
For his book, Payoff: The Hidden Logic That Shapes Our Motivations, he conducted a research where he offered cash, pizza and compliments as rewards to workers producing computer chips.
As compared to the control group , workers who were given cash , compliments and pizza produced 4.9, 6.6 and 6.7 percent more chips respectively. Although , over the course of a week, compliment turned out to be the leading productivity enhancer but hey, pizza (here is how processed food damages your health) isn’t too bad either.
